My donations will support the work of organizations that rescue, restore, and bring justice to men, women, and children caught in modern-day slavery.
-In 2007, my husband Jim and I heard Christine Caine introduce her new organization—A21, whose mission is to end slavery. We still remember how gripped we were by the tragedy of human trafficking.
-That same year, we were inspired by the movie “Amazing Grace”, the true-life story of William Wilberforce, a leader of the British abolition movement.
-Since 2007, I've looked for opportunities to educate myself and get involved in the fight to end human trafficking.
-Jim and I, along with a few of our children, participated in both the 2012 and the 2013 Free-Them Freedom Walks in Toronto to help raise support and awareness of the issues of human trafficking in Canada.
-In 2013 through 2016, I participated in the annual Dressember fundraising campaigns as a way to help in the fight to abolish human trafficking.
-In 2019, I began to financially support the Elora House, a safe house for women who have been exploited and sex-trafficked. The home welcomed its first guests in early 2020.
On February 20, 2021 I walked 5 km to raise support for the Elora House, a home that provides short-term housing and support to women exploited by sex trafficking. I can't imagine the horrors and abuse that these women have experienced but I can support them as they rebuild their lives in a safe place where they are loved, respected, and valued!
My team and I walked 5 km on February 26, 2022 and 5 km on February 25, 2023 to raise support for the Elora House through the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser.
In 2023 and 2024, I continued supporting the Elora House and International Justice Mission.
